Company Profile
You’ll join Strafe Creative, a passionate creative agency rooted in Nottingham, working with brands big and small. We build great products through collaboration, innovative thinking, and a dedication to craft. Here, every teammate is empowered, encouraged to grow, and part of a vibrant culture.
The Role
We’re on the hunt for a talented, ambitious Mid-Level Designer to join the Strafe Creative team. You’ll design seamless, conversion-focused digital experiences, contribute to strategic design discussions, and play a key role in guiding our junior designers as they grow. With the support of our senior team, you’ll balance multiple projects, lead presentations, and bring bold, user-focused ideas to life.
We want to give you a clear picture of the type of work you’ll be doing. Most of our projects – around 80% – are focussed on digital design, including UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) for websites, digital products, and complex dashboards. The remaining 20% involves branding and visual identity. While those skills are definitely valuable, the core focus of the role is digital design.
What you’ll be doing
-
Designing user-friendly interfaces under the guidance of senior designers.
-
Keeping your Figma files spotless, organised, labelled, and ready for handover.
-
Gathering and applying user feedback to improve your designs.
-
Balancing multiple projects and deadlines with support from Project Managers.
-
Presenting design ideas internally (and with clients once you’re confident).
-
Staying curious; experimenting with new tools, keeping up with industry trends, and sharing what you learn.
What we’re looking for
-
Figma fluency (the basics are essential; the rest you’ll learn here).
-
A natural eye for detail and pixel-perfect execution.
-
Strong time management; you’ll check in on Monday.com daily and keep Project Managers in the loop.
-
A collaborative mindset; you must be open to feedback and hungry to grow.
How to apply
Portfolio Submission Requirements
Your portfolio is the most important part of your application. We require clear evidence of your practical design skills and ability.
- Preferred Format: We highly recommend submitting your work via a personal website or a single, consolidated PDF document / presentation slides (e.g., Figma slides, Google Slides).
- Hosting: While we can accept work hosted on third-party sites (e.g., Behance, Dribbble, Notion), we strongly advise against this as the best way to showcase your skills. A dedicated site or document gives you complete control.
Practical Checks: Please ensure your work is easy to find!
- URL: Double-check that all links are correct and load instantly. Broken links are a red flag. If password protected, please make the password readily available as part of your application.
- File Size: If submitting a PDF, please keep the file size to under 20MB for easy downloading and review.
We are primarily assessing your foundational practical design skillset.
- Content: Please showcase 3 to 6 primarily digital-based projects that demonstrate your expertise.
- Visual Priority: We are not looking to read lengthy essays or deep dives into theory-craft. Instead, let the visuals of your work clearly convey the concepts. Show us, don’t just tell us!
- Core Fundamentals: We love to see a clear understanding of:
- Colour theory and effective palettes.
- Typographic fundamentals and hierarchy.
- Strong layout and spacing awareness.
- A basic understanding of UI Design principles.
Applicants must be UK based, and eligible to work in the UK.
